This year, BC Card’s Red Food Car will fly to the Philippines

BC Card (Mun-whan Lee, President and CEO, www.bccard.com) spread warm kindness to the Tacloban region in the Philippines this year as well. Tacloban is the area affected by the typhoon Haiyan in 2013.

BC Card cooperated with the international relief group Korea Food for the Hungry International and dispatched 24 people of "Red Food Car Overseas Volunteer Group" to Tacloban area of the Philippines for six days from December 12 to 17. The dispatched 'Red Food Car Overseas Volunteer Group' is composed of 15 members of the 8th ‘Red Food Car Volunteers', and 9 mentors of BC Card, KT IS and Smartro employees.

The 'Red Food Car Overseas Volunteer Group' conducted various volunteer activities, including free meal service and sports competitions, to provide nutrition and improve health for 480 elementary school students. They also visited Amandangay Elementary School, which is continuing its education amid a harsh environment, successfully completed its project to support the construction of new classrooms and helped to improve educational conditions there.

Kim Hyun Seung, a member of the 8th ‘Red Food Car Volunteers' who participated in this overseas volunteer service, said “I have gained profound energy from Tacloban children who do not lose their laughter in difficult environments." "Through social contribution activities that go beyond the borders, I am proud that I have contributed to the well-being of a local community."

"We have been continuing our free food service project for 6 years after dispatching the Red Food Car with KFHI to help with the damage restoration from the typhoon in 2014," said Seok-jin Choi, executive vice president of BC Card (in charge of Communications Division) and that “We will consistently carry out supporting projects with the spirit of sharing of BC Card so that it could make a difference in places where help is needed.”
