Mun-whan Lee, President and CEO of BC Card, "We will lead the digital payment market through expansion of QR payment"

  • Digital platform will become a core competency of win-win with affiliated stores through cost-efficiency and customer-oriented services
  • Need to activate global business sector in earnest and find new growth engines.

Mun-whan Lee, President and CEO of BC Card, said, "We will continue to lead the digital payment market by expanding customer-oriented services such as QR payment."

"The digitization of the payment market is expected to accelerate more this year, so it is important to strengthen the competitiveness of BC card platform," Lee said at the opening ceremony at BC Card's headquarters in Seocho-dong this morning.

BC Card has been actively promoting digitization of payment platform and business since last year. Based on this, it launched QR payment for the first time in October last year, and it is providing a big-data based customized service, mytag for customer convenience and coexistence with small and medium-sized local businesspeople.

President Lee said, "The digital platform will be a core competency to win-win with merchants based on cost-efficiency and customer-oriented services." “To this end, we must accurately analyze the needs of customers and merchants”, he emphasized. This can be interpreted as that BC Card's digital payment platform, paybooc, will be more activated to become available to more customers.

We also stressed the need for a new growth engine by saying, "The new growth engine will be a strength to overcome difficulties when the profitability of the main business declines."

BC Card has entered the Vietnamese market after exporting processing technology to Indonesia. Last year, in particular, it has been expanding the collaborative sectors by signing a business agreement to digitalize the payment platform of Vietnam with Liet Vien Post Bank, which exclusively operates the Vietnamese post office network.

President Lee stated, "The business environment is challenging, but if we prepare ourselves with competitiveness based on the digital platform, we will find new opportunities."
