No stoppage in operation of BC Card, even in the event of disasters and calamities!

BC Card (Mun-whan Lee, President and CEO, www.bccard.com) announced on the 22nd that the company acquired an international certification for the provision of normal services, even in the event of the occurrence of crisis situations, such as disasters and calamities, for the first time in the credit card industry.

The 'ISO 22301' certification that BC Card received is an international standard enacted by the International Standardization Organization (ISO) for evaluation of Business Continuity Management in securing the continuity of works by promptly restoring necessary infrastructure in the event of occurrence of situations in which stoppage of work could occur due to disasters and calamities such as fires, earthquakes, and power blackouts, etc.

The ceremony for the presentation of the certificate was held at the headquarters of BC Card in Seocho-dong on the 19th at 3PM in the presence of key personnel including Mr. Byeong-cheol Chae, risk administrator of BC Card (Executive Director) and Mr. Dae-hyeon Nam, CEO of Korean Foundation for Quality, etc.

BC Card, through acquisition of this certificate, is able to further elevate the trusts of the customers as it is an international recognition of the company’s capabilities in promptly restoring various core works of credit transactions, including authorization of domestic and overseas credit cards, settlement of accounts of members, payment for revenues generated, and purchases made at merchants, etc. in accordance with the in-house manual under various crisis situations.

Mr. Byeong-cheol Chae, risk administrator of BC Card (Executive Director), stated that, "BC Card has been implementing 'Business Continuity Plan Training' under situations that are extremely close to real situations in preparation for a diverse range of hazardous circumstances for all the staff members and executives over the last 10 years," and that, "we shall put in even further efforts to maximize the satisfaction of our customers through an exhaustive risk management system."

Meanwhile, BC Card also received ISO 20000 (IT service management) and ISO 27001 (information security in the entire work domain) certifications in 2009 and 2010, respectively.
