Digital-based bio-authentication technology of BC Card (Mun-whan Lee, President and CEO, www.bccard.com) was highly recognized in the global market.

At the 3rd General Assembly Seminar of the FIDO Alliance in 2018 held at the Pan Pacific Hotel in Singapore on the 8th, the bio-authentication technology of 'paybooc', the on/off-line payment platform of BC Card, was selected as an outstanding case in the financial payment division among 36 global FIDO board member companies.

An interested party of the FIDO Alliance explained that, "BC Card was selected as an outstanding case for having made contributions towards information security as well as convenience in financial transactions in the daily lives of 38 million customers in Korea by applying the standard bio-authentication technology to a mobile payment platform in Korea for the first time among financial companies in Korea."

BC Card, through the application of 'paybooc', the mobile payment platform of the company, is providing FIDO standard-based fingerprint, voice, and facial authentication services for the first time among domestic finance companies. The bio-authentication services of BC Card have enhanced versatility and convenience since they can be used regardless of the manufacturer of terminal unit, telecommunication company, and types of online service.

In addition, it is characterized by further enforcement of security, including prevention of illegal use arising from disclosure of bio-information by applying a specialized digital security technology for each of the facial bio-authentication formats such as movement checks, as well as voice alteration and falsification verification functions.

Meanwhile, BC Card jointly developed FIDO-based standard bio-authentication technology with Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI) after having been appointed as a member of the board of directors of the FIDO Alliance for the first time among financial companies in Asia in 2016 to provide convenient payment services to financial companies in Korea. In addition, the company is spurring on with the innovation of digital payment technology, including launching of QR payment services with international standard specifications for the first time among the domestic credit card companies.
